It's Been a Busy 6 Weeks

We moved into our new home 6 weeks ago today. Sorry I haven't updated you on our activities but it has been busy.

We had a week to get settled in then headed to Quebec City on the July 1st weekend for my nephew, Jacob's wedding. We all love his new wife, Sophie, a lot. Don't they make a beautiful couple?
The little flower girl is Jacob's niece (and our great niece).

One week later, July 9th to 22nd was the Peggy's Cove Festival of the Arts, which I organize. 30 artists on the rocks painting Peggy's Cove one weekend, a studio tour featuring 31 open studios and 76 local artists the next, a song writer's circle music concert were the major events. Busy, busy, busy...
And we are slowly learning to live in a motorhome. Are we ever glad we decided to live here for a few months before hitting the road. We are learning so much that it is best to learn before we get too far from home:

We now know that a 100 gallon water tank is not very big and will last, at best, 1 week unless we change our water-using ways. Something we are working on. We knew the water in the well at Bay Hammocks was not drinkable so did not want to use it for any use because it would contaminate the motorhome's water system. So we had "Monty the Handyman" come, drain the well, scrub the walls, let it refill and shock it with a large dose of chlorine. After all this we still had bacteria in the water so Arch installed a UV light. $800 later we have clean water. Incidentally, if you live in the St. Margaret's Bay area we really recommend Monty. He did a great job and it was not his fault that the water was not clean after all his work. More likely, it is the fault the animals that live in the woods behind us.

We also know that holding tanks (both grey and black water) should be emptied every week or they stink. :)

Another thing, self-pasting wallpaper does not adhere well to thin, uninsulated walls in a damp climate. It is all starting to peel off and must be reapplied using vinyl to vinyl wallpaper glue. Luckily our friends Norman and Susan insist that their work comes with a guarantee and they are coming next Tuesday night to help with this chore.

And Arch has learned that, unless you know how to do it, it is a really bad idea to remove our 17' awning from the motorhome and the roll that holds it to install a new one if you do not have a way to transport it to the dealer to have the work done. It is now going to take 2 to 3 friends to help attach it to the motorhome and Arch is going to have to figure out how to get it on the roller with the correct tension.
For now it resides on the picnic table. Fortunately we don't need it as the motorhome is facing north.

All in all we love living in The Adventure Bus and are getting really anxious to get on the road.
